MWA training report

We, the members of the Farato-Sotokoi-Daru Womens Garden Association, have just benefitted from a two days training programme. The training which centred around Group Management and Vegetable Production was very fitting and timely since the Association is anticipating to operate a communal garden scheme soon.

The training which was conducted from the 12 - 13 April 2008 at Take Care Nursery School Hall was well attended. About two hundred and twenty (220) women actively took part in both days of the training programme.

The programme was very interactive and participatory in nature.

Some of the topics treated include

  • Group management principles
  • Group dynamics
  • Group formalization
  • Savings and credit mechanisms
  • Principles of vegetable production
  • Production recommendations
  • Storage facilities and marketing of vegetable produce

On behalf of the executive and the entire membership of the group, and on my own behalf, I would like to sincerely thank the organizers and the participants for a job well done.

Before I conclude I would also want to recommend that the group continues to benefit from such relevant types of training workshop in the future. I would also like to recommend the commencement of the garden as soon as possible.
